When it comes to deciding which PADI diving courses, Gran Canaria, you should take as a beginner it can all be a bit confusing. There are three main options for beginners to choose from. Here is a quick breakdown of each to try and make it easier for you.
- The Discover Scuba Diving Experience
- The Scuba Diver Course
- The Open Water Course
BUT WHAT DOES EACH COURSE ALLOW ME TO DO UNDERWATER?
The Discover Scuba Diving session allows you to a maximum depth of 12mtrs. The session takes approx 3 hours to complete, involving a brief theory lecture, training session in confined water and then an open water sea dive. If you wanted to dive again you would have to do another DSD or choose to start either the Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver course.
The Scuba Diver Course has a maximum depth of 12m, and you must always dive with a PADI professional. It is essentially half of the Open Water Course, so if you choose in the future you can upgrade from Scuba Diver to Open Water Diver with a few extra confined water sessions and dives.
The Open Water Diver Course has a maximum depth of 18m. Once certified as an Open Water Diver you can dive anywhere in the world with another suitably trained buddy. This certification lasts a life time.
HOW LONG WILL EACH COURSE TAKE?
Discover Scuba Dive: Half a day (3 hours)
Scuba Diver Course: 2 Days
Open Water Diver Course: 3 Days
HOW MUCH DOES EACH COURSE COST?
Discover Scuba Diver/Try Dive: €75
