Keeping Amadores Beach Clean

Keeping Amadores Beach Clean

As part of being a PADI Diving Centre each year it's the dive centres responsibility to plan, promote and organise a beach clean up, with the Padi Project Aware Team
In 2018 Blue Water Diving adopted Amadores Beach as our designated area. Amadores is a man made beach which is nestled in between Puerto Mogan and Puerto Rico. Amadores beach was built in 2002 with crushed coral sand imported from the Caribbean.

The bay has grown in marine life and plants grow from the rocks, which has formed it as a nursery for barracuda, angel sharks, sea wrasse, cuttlefish, squid, damzels, sardines.Adult stingrays, eagle rays and angel sharks can also be found here.

To help keep the bay a perfect nursery, we need to ensure the environment is right for the babies grow.

One way in which we help to do this is by cleaning and removing any rubbish out of the ocean. Project Aware runs regular surveys worldwide and collects data from individuals and dive centres.

Here is a list of the top 10 rubbish items found in the ocean:

Our Divemaster Internships regularly carry net bags with them to collect any debris found in the bay each day.  During their time with us they are then eligible to obtain the Padi Dive Against Debris speciality which can be credited towards the Master Scuba Diver Rating

These courses are not only for the divemasters, these courses are available to any certified diver of any age. It is a rewarding course knowing you have contributed to helping keeping our oceans clean.

If every diver took one piece of litter out of the ocean then it would massively reduce the amount going in.

Thanks for keeping our homes clean :)

Happy diving,

The Blue Water Diving team
